Adding instant payments into the Moneybox app

Why adding stocks?

One of the main features of the Moneybox app is the 'weekly collection', where each Wednesday Moneybox sets up a Direct Debit order from the users' bank accounts. The money is then taken from the users' bank accounts and invested in the span of a week.

One of the biggest pain points in the app was that people weren't able to deposit instantly into their Moneybox accounts.

Our MVP process

The business's urgency for putting this feature live made it difficult to conduct any testing before the feature was released so I relied on quick tests with MB employees that had nothing to do with Product, Dev or Design (☹️ Not ideally how I would do it, but we were in Lockdown by then so our test approach was limited!). We had to move quite quickly, since deadlines were pretty tight!

Discovery

At Moneybox, all employees spend the first 2 weeks in the company working in Customer Support answering all types of queries. During those 2 weeks I documented users' feedback specifically for this project which made the Discovery phase very smooth and I was able to hit the ground running by the end of week 2 🙌. We didn't have any quantitative data to work with, only estimations on how much £ we were losing by not having instant bank transfers in the app.

Some ideas that didn't make it live

Some ideas for the access point to Instant bank transfers. The one on the far right was a strong contender for our design, only to find out that users didn't understand it during guerrilla testing.

Measuring success and our results

The precise data is confidential. We measured success by the amount of transfers people made in the app and also from the qualitative feedback we got via Customer Support, as well as the amount or queries.
